What is Jacquard Weaving? Why Prozily's TENCEL™ Bedding is Unlike Anything Else in Singapore
Walk into any bedding store in Singapore and you will find the same thing: plain, solid-coloured sheets. White. Grey. Beige. The occasional navy blue.
Prozily is different. Every design in our collection features a floral pattern — and that pattern is not printed onto the fabric. It is woven into the fabric itself using a technique called Jacquard weaving. This single difference changes everything about how the bedding looks, feels, and lasts.
What is Jacquard Weaving?
Jacquard weaving is a method of creating patterns directly within the fabric structure — rather than applying them to the surface afterwards. The technique was developed in early 19th century France by Joseph Marie Jacquard, whose punch-card loom was later credited as an early inspiration for computer programming.
In modern Jacquard weaving, a computerised loom controls each individual thread independently, raising or lowering them in precise sequences to create complex patterns. The result is a fabric where the pattern is structurally part of the weave — not a coating, not an ink, not a transfer. The pattern and the fabric are one and the same.
Jacquard Weaving vs Printed Fabric — What's the Difference?
Most patterned bedding you find in Singapore is printed. The base fabric is woven plain, and then a design is applied on top using dyes, inks, or heat transfer. It looks beautiful in the shop. The problem comes later.
| Printed Fabric | Jacquard Woven | |
|---|---|---|
| How the pattern is made | Applied on top of fabric | Woven into the fabric structure |
| Pattern durability | Fades, cracks, peels over time | Cannot fade — it is part of the fabric |
| Texture | Flat — no texture from the pattern | Subtle 3D texture you can feel |
| Light behaviour | Flat appearance | Gentle shimmer — catches light differently at each angle |
| After 50 washes | Pattern visibly duller | Identical to day one |
When you run your hand over a Jacquard-woven fabric, you can feel the pattern beneath your fingertips. The petals have a different tension from the background. The shimmer shifts as you move the fabric in the light. This is what makes Jacquard bedding feel genuinely luxurious — it is a quality you can experience rather than just see.
Why TENCEL™ + Jacquard is a Rare Combination
Most Jacquard bedding is made from polyester, cotton, or blended fabrics. Pure TENCEL™ Lyocell Jacquard is unusual — the fibre's unique properties make it technically more demanding to weave in this way, and few manufacturers have mastered it.
Prozily's bedding combines both: 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell Jacquard — meaning you get the breathability, cooling, and hypoallergenic properties of pure TENCEL™, with floral patterns woven permanently into the fabric. No other bedding brand in Singapore currently offers this combination.
Prozily's 6 Jacquard TENCEL™ Designs

Each Prozily design is the result of this Jacquard weaving process — the flowers, leaves, and botanical motifs are not decorations placed on top of the fabric. They are the fabric. From the delicate silver-grey blooms of Moonlight Bloom to the deep botanical greens of Forest Rain, every design is permanently and beautifully woven into 100% Austrian TENCEL™ Lyocell.
- The pattern cannot fade, crack, or peel — ever
- The texture is subtle and elegant — never rough or stiff
- The shimmer is natural — it comes from the weave, not a coating
- The comfort is unchanged — TENCEL™ Lyocell breathes and wicks moisture exactly as it should
All Prozily bedding is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified — tested and confirmed free from harmful chemicals, safe for sensitive skin.
